Ginger Baker - The African Force - CD/LP
ITM presents two sessions from Ginger Baker, recorded in 1987. Ever keen on African music, even relocating to Nigeria for a few years in the 1970s, one of Ginger Baker's many projects was The African Force - a jazzed-up drum and percussion ensemble featuring Francis Mensah, Ampofo, Ansou Mana Bangoura and J. C. Commodore on percussion and vocals. The first set, which also
features German horn players Wolfgang Schmidtke and Ludwig Götzn and bassist Jan Kazda, was recorded live at Jazzhaus, Cologne. The second set, drums and percussion only, was recorded live at Schauburg by Radio Bremen.
