Brownie McGhee - A Black Woman’s Man - CD
For three decades, singer/guitarist BROWNIE McGHEE and his partner, blind harmonica player SONNY TERRY, were the Siamese twins of the Blues, perceived by their public to be inextricably joined at the hip. Their 40-year partnership made them houshold names, but McGhee's earliest 'solo' recordings remain amongst his rarest and most sought-after. This compilation anthologises his earliest recordings, from 1941-42 and features his very first 78s. Also included are the very first sides Brownie ever recorded with Sonny Terry, which sowed the seeds of their later partnership. Very Country Blues in texture, these 24 sides present a side of Brownie McGhee that we rarely get to hear, all at a special low-price.
