Brothers Groove - Play The Game - CD
Brothers Groove, Birmingham's best kept secret, are ready to set the Blues world alight with their stunning new album 'Play The Game'.
Shaun Hill, guitar and vocals, Nigel Mellor, guitar and vocals, Deano, bass and vocals, are the driving force of this truly individual band. Joining them on drums is Wayne Proctor who also takes over production duties of the album.
Brothers Groove are perfectly named as they really do groove. Their name came about because of their "brother-like" close friendships. They really know and understand one another and this extends very much into their playing both live and in the studio. They have their own sound with a little bit of that Birmingham industrial edge somewhere in the mix. All the songs are written by the band and are of a high quality. A song may have a certain structure, but they will move things around, in a split second, to suit the moment.
'Play The Game' is the most exciting album to come out of the Blues genre for some time. Paul Jones (BBC Radio 2) heard the band playing 'My Guitar', which is now on the album and said the track was "wonderful". The band opened for Mud Morganfield, amongst others, who said he loved their groove.
The album was recorded over several weeks in Superfly Studios in Ollerton and was mixed by Steve Wright at Y Dream Studios in Wales. The album was mastered by the legendary Jon Astley (Led Zeppelin, The Who, Eric Clapton, Tom Jones, Jools Holland, Level 42, John Mayall, Peter Gabriel, Sting, Paul McCartney etc).
